Philip Morris România leads in innovative manufacturing for a smoke-free future
Philip Morris România is making significant strides towards a smoke-free future, all while operating one of the most advanced factories within the Philip Morris International network. Located in Otopeni, the factory produces five tons of steam per hour and operates at a pressure of 10 bars, showcasing its state-of-the-art capabilities.
The electric boiler at the facility boasts a capacity of 3 MW, crucial for maintaining the factory’s complex operations, which Mihai Șandru, Director of Building Infrastructure Division at IMSAT, describes as a well-calibrated mechanism. Over the past seven years, Philip Morris România has collaborated closely with IMSAT to ensure that interventions are carried out without halting production.
With more than 1,500 employees and collaboration with 4,300 local suppliers, Philip Morris România supports approximately 9,000 jobs within the economy. This commitment to local partnerships reflects a deep-rooted belief in the power of community and shared progress.
Mihai Șandru emphasizes that the installations within the factory are akin to the organs of a human body, where each component plays a vital role in overall functionality. He believes that satisfaction comes from knowing that the system operates correctly and that a project is deemed successful when it fulfills its purpose day in and day out.
The continuity of their collaboration with IMSAT is seen as an indicator of the trust built over time, and Mihai notes that innovation and improvement in impact are key goals for the future. Together, they are contributing to an ecosystem where progress is the result of a collective effort by thousands of people.
