Alexia Şipoş shines with three gold medals at U17 European Weightlifting Championships

In a remarkable display of talent and determination, Romanian weightlifter Alexia Şipoş has secured three gold medals at the U17 European Weightlifting Championships held in Klokot, Kosovo. Competing in the 53 kg category, Şipoş not only won gold in her weight class but also set two new European records for cadets in the snatch and total, while equalling the European record in the clean and jerk.

Şipoş triumphed in the snatch with an impressive lift of 84 kg and excelled in the clean and jerk with a lift of 101 kg. Her total of 185 kg earned her the gold medal, showcasing her exceptional skills and hard work.

Romania's overall performance at the championships was outstanding, with a total of 15 medals — 6 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze. Other notable achievements included Maia Delia Andrei, who also clinched three gold medals in the 49 kg category for U17, and Andreea Lemnaru, who earned three silver medals in the 41 kg category for U15.

In addition to Şipoş, Vali Nicuşor Valache and Florin Mihai Ispilante represented Romania in the competition, with Valache finishing sixth in both the snatch and total, while Ispilante placed seventh in the snatch. Nicoleta Georgiana Dulce also made her mark, finishing in the top ten in her category with notable lifts.

Romania's delegation included 15 athletes, consisting of 9 girls and 6 boys, all contributing to this impressive medal haul. The success at the European Championships highlights the strength and potential of young Romanian athletes on the international stage.
