Bucharest International Air Show 2026 to Celebrate 120 Years of Aviation Progress

The Bucharest International Air Show, BIAS 2026, is set to take off on August 28, 2026, marking a significant milestone in aviation history as it celebrates 120 years since Traian Vuia's pioneering flight with the Vuia I. This edition of the show will take place at the Henri Coandă International Airport and ROMAERO, bringing together over 200 military and civilian participants.

The first day of the event will be dedicated to official training sessions, which the public can attend for free. Training flights are scheduled to be visible from 14:30 to 18:30, allowing spectators to enjoy a sneak peek of the aerial displays planned for the main event.

Saturday will be the highlight of BIAS 2026, kicking off at 08:00 with a series of exciting aerial demonstrations. The opening ceremony will take place from 09:45 to 10:00, followed by a showcase of light and ultralight aircraft from 09:00 to 09:30. Notably, the Romanian Air Force will lead the main demonstrations, featuring tactical maneuvers and formation flying with F-16 Fighting Falcon, C-27J Spartan, and C-130 Hercules aircraft.

Among the main attractions, the esteemed Frecce Tricolori will return to Bucharest after 14 years, performing with nine MB-339 aircraft. The Turkish Stars will also make a comeback after eight years, showcasing their Northrop NF-5 Freedom Fighter planes. Other notable aircraft participating include the Rafale, F/A-18 Hornet, Eurofighter Typhoon, and Panavia Tornado, adding an impressive international flair to the event.

The exhibition area will be open to visitors on Saturday from 09:00 to 18:30, featuring static displays of aircraft, including a replica of the Vuia I and the IAR-80 scale model. Attendees will have the chance to see the IAR-330 helicopters and various military installations, along with flight simulators.

The excitement will culminate in a spectacular closing show featuring drones and fireworks, followed by a concert from 21:00 to 22:00. With free access for the public throughout both days, BIAS 2026 promises to be an unforgettable celebration of aviation and a tribute to Romania's rich aerial heritage.
