Cristian Mungiu's highly anticipated film 'Fjord' is set to make its Romanian debut on January 15, 2027. This film has already made waves internationally, having won Mungiu his second Palme d'Or and being selected as Romania's submission for the Oscars.

Ahead of its official premiere, 'Fjord' will be showcased in a special screening on October 24, 2023, at 18:00, across all available cinemas in Bucharest and nationwide. This event will be complemented by a discussion between Mungiu and the audience, which will be broadcast live to participating cinemas.

The film's launch will be celebrated with a gala at Bucharest's Sala Palatului, where Mungiu will be joined by lead actors Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve. The festival Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest will also host a gala screening at Ateneul Român, further highlighting the film's prominence in Romanian cinema.

Tickets for the special screening will go on sale on October 1, 2023. Mungiu has expressed optimism about 'Fjord', noting that it has begun well in America and has been featured by several prestigious publications as a favorite for the Oscars. The film will compete in numerous categories, including Best Film, Best Director, and many others.

In addition to the film's screenings, Mungiu’s photography exhibition will take place in New York and Los Angeles to coincide with the U.S. premiere on October 9, 2023, and will also be displayed at Art Safari New Museum in Romania starting September 18.

Mungiu has received overwhelming support from fellow Romanians and beyond, emphasizing that the Romanian cinematography has not had such an opportunity before. 'Fjord' is set to premiere in over 40 countries before the awards season in December, showcasing the strength of Romanian storytelling on a global stage.
