Hornbach România invests 70 million euros in new stores in Cluj-Napoca and Craiova
Hornbach România is set to enhance its presence in the country with an investment of approximately 70 million euros for two new stores. The first will open in Cluj-Napoca in the autumn of 2027, followed by a store in Craiova in the spring of 2028.
Construction has already begun for the Cluj-Napoca store, which will be located within the Urbano Shopping & Living center. This will be Hornbach's second location in Cluj-Napoca, featuring a sales area of approximately 20,100 m², with over 8,900 m² dedicated to construction materials and home improvements, and around 5,000 m² for gardening.
Meanwhile, Hornbach has secured the necessary permits for its first store in Oltenia, located at the intersection of Bulevardul Decebal and Strada Caracal in Craiova. The Craiova store will span over 17,000 m² and construction is slated to start at the beginning of 2027.
Both stores will incorporate modern energy-efficient technologies, including photovoltaic panels for renewable energy generation, heat recovery ventilation systems, and heat pump-based air conditioning.
Under the leadership of Radu Oniga, General Director of Hornbach România, the company continues to grow, with 11 physical stores expected by October 2025, adding to its existing locations in various Romanian cities including Bucharest, Brașov, and Timișoara. Hornbach currently operates 174 DIY and gardening centers across nine European countries, generating net sales of 6.4 billion euros in the 2025/26 financial year.
