Ikea plans to open 10 new stores across Romania in the next three years

Bucharest ·

Ikea has announced an ambitious plan to open 10 new stores in Romania over the next three years, reinforcing its commitment to the country. This expansion includes both large-format stores and smaller locations, ensuring that customers across various cities will have access to their products.

With a budget of 130 million euros earmarked for the period from 2027 to 2029, Ikea is set to enhance its presence throughout the country. The new stores will be located in major cities like Iași and Cluj-Napoca, as well as in smaller cities such as Craiova, Pitești, and Galați.

In addition to opening new locations, Ikea will also modernize its existing stores, including a significant investment of 60 million euros for the Băneasa store, the first Ikea outlet in Romania. This modernization effort highlights Ikea's dedication to providing a better shopping experience for its customers.

Ikea is also considering partnerships with other retailers to expand its footprint even further. The company has already secured land for a new store in Iași, marking the beginning of this exciting phase of growth.

Romania is a top priority for Ikea in the coming years, with plans for similar investments in neighboring countries such as Croatia, Slovakia, and Serbia. Under the leadership of Ekaterina Egorova, the new CEO of Ikea South East Europe, and Vincent Devloo, area sales manager, Ikea aims to strengthen its connection with Romanian consumers and create more opportunities for engagement.
