24 Aug 2026, 13:53

Scheduled for 30 August 2026, L’Étape România is set to welcome nearly 2,000 cyclists from 17 different countries. Participants will represent over 170 cities and localities, making it a remarkable gathering of cycling enthusiasts.

The event will feature three main courses: The Race, with a distance of 85 km; The Ride, measuring 42 km; and City Adventure, which is 14 km long and accessible to those as young as 7 years old. Notably, The Ride alone is expected to attract around 1,200 participants, while over 250 children and adolescents under 18 have already signed up, benefiting from a 15% discount on registration fees.

The day of the race will see traffic restrictions in Bucharest from 07:00 to 14:00, with major streets such as Bulevardul Unirii and Calea Victoriei closed to ensure a safe environment for cyclists. The event will kick off and conclude at Piața Constituției, providing a scenic backdrop for this exciting competition.

Participants will have a minimum speed requirement of 30 km/h for The Race, 25 km/h for The Ride, and 14 km/h for City Adventure. Competitors can use gravel or mountain bikes, and there will be age category rankings for each route, ensuring fair competition.

On 29 August 2026, cyclists can collect their participation kits from 10:00 to 19:00, with the event's program on the race day starting at 06:30 with the opening of the Race Village. This space will feature a Tour de France exhibition, a commercial area, a food court, relaxation zones, and activities organized by sponsors.

Răzvan Jugănaru, the event organizer, emphasizes the importance of a technical check of bicycles prior to the race and advises against excessive training in the week leading up to the event. He also warns participants not to try anything new on race day to ensure a smooth experience.
