Major infrastructure projects in Romania take significant step forward

Four major infrastructure projects have taken an important step towards execution today. These projects received approval from the Interministerial Council for Public Investment, marking a significant moment for Romania's road infrastructure.

The Brașov - Făgăraș highway will span 49.3 km and aims to better connect Brașov with the center of the country. This new highway will alleviate traffic from the current national road, which is known to be extremely dangerous and congested.

Additionally, the Bucharest - Alexandria highway, a long-awaited investment, is set to significantly improve the connection between the capital and the south of the country. This route includes one of the busiest and most perilous roads in Romania, thus creating a safer travel option for many.

Another project, the DR1 - Vest Expres, will be the first radial road of Bucharest, extending Bulevardul Timișoara to the A0 highway. This nearly 10 km modern road will feature two lanes in each direction, a dedicated public transport lane, bicycle paths, and Park&Ride connections, promoting sustainable transport options.

The Sibiu Sud Bypass, with over 21 km of new road, will divert transit traffic from the southern area of Sibiu city. It will provide better connections between the A1, DN1, and localities in the metropolitan area, addressing real traffic needs.

These projects are designed to reduce congestion, shorten travel times, and enhance road safety while contributing to pollution reduction. Today's approval is a crucial step forward, with the next phases being the government’s approval of technical-economic indicators and the launch of construction tenders.
