More than 120,000 employees in Romania earn over 3,000 euros net per month

In a remarkable shift, over 120,000 employees in Romania now earn more than 3,000 euros net per month. This figure represents a significant increase from just a few years ago, highlighting the evolving landscape of the Romanian job market.

By 2025, the number of individual employment contracts exceeding this salary threshold was projected to rise to over 122,400. This marks an increase that is nearly 2.5 times greater than five years prior, showcasing the growing opportunities for higher earnings.

The threshold of 3,000 euros net corresponds to a gross salary of approximately 30,000 lei. Notably, in 2025, 119,226 full-time contracts surpassed this amount, underscoring a trend toward more lucrative positions.

Among these, 66,744 contracts had gross salaries between 30,001 and 40,000 lei, while 10,254 contracts fell within the range of 40,001 to 43,099 lei gross. A small number of contracts—three—were recorded with exactly 43,100 lei gross, and an impressive 42,225 employees earned over this amount.

Back in 2020, just over 50,000 contracts reached the equivalent of a net salary above 3,000 euros. The dramatic increase in the last five years is largely attributed to rising salaries in large companies, responding to the growing demand for experienced managers and specialists with hard-to-find skills in the labor market.

As Romania continues to progress, the expansion of high-income employment reflects not only economic growth but also a shift in the types of skills and expertise valued in today's workforce.
