New Data Centers Planned in Ilfov to Boost Romania's Tech Infrastructure

WDP România and Lamas Invest are set to construct two new data centers in Ștefăneștii de Jos, a project that marks a significant expansion in Romania's digital landscape. These centers aim to provide 380 MW of capacity, a substantial increase compared to the current national portfolio of approximately 100 MW.

The initiative comes from WDP România, a key player in the logistics space in Romania, and Lamas Invest, which is owned by Jeroen Biermans, the country manager of WDP România. Together, they have begun the necessary procedures to secure the legal approvals and permits needed for this ambitious venture.

Located in Ilfov County, Ștefăneștii de Jos is already home to WDP România's industrial park. The company is well-equipped for this expansion, boasting 13 MW of photovoltaic energy production systems for self-consumption, which will enhance the sustainability of the new data centers.

With backing from one of Belgium's wealthiest families, the project reflects a growing investment in Romania’s technological infrastructure, paving the way for future developments in the region.
