18 Aug 2026, 18:48

A new ice rink is under construction in Sfântu Gheorghe, with an impressive investment of 50 million euros. Set to open in January 2028, this modern facility promises to elevate the local sports culture and provide a venue for community events and activities.

Initiated in late 2024, the project is being overseen by the Compania Națională de Investiții (CNI). The construction has already made significant progress, with the structural works completed and interior partitioning and installations well underway. The next steps involve closing the roof structure and enveloping the building.

Located adjacent to the Sepsi SuperLiga stadium, which itself cost 25 million euros and was inaugurated in October 2021, the new ice rink will boast two floors and a seating capacity of 2,180. It will feature high-standard spectator facilities and a medical center, ensuring a comprehensive experience for all visitors.

The rink is set to become the new home for the Háromszéki Ágyúso team, currently playing in Târgu Secuiesc. Athletes will have access to changing rooms, recovery spaces, and fitness areas, enhancing their training and performance. Additionally, fans can look forward to ample parking and commercial spaces, making it a vibrant hub for both sports and leisure.

A media space compliant with European standards will also be included, ensuring that journalists can adequately cover events at the rink. This development marks a significant step forward for the community and showcases the commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure in Romania.
