Nuno Claro leads new goalkeeper campus initiative in Romania

Nuno Claro, a celebrated triple champion with CFR Cluj, is now taking his expertise to the next generation as a coach. He is spearheading an exciting new initiative aimed at developing young goalkeepers through specialized training camps.

The first goalkeeper campus was successfully held in Oradea from June 22-26 and again from June 29 to July 3. Following its success, a new campus is scheduled to take place in Cluj from October 9-11, offering a structured program that runs daily from 09:00 to 10:45 and 17:00 to 18:45.

This initiative is organized in collaboration with Baza Sportivă Someșul Gilău, ensuring a strong foundation for aspiring goalkeepers. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from professional coaches hailing from Italy, Germany, and Portugal, including Hans-Peter Berger, a former international player with experience coaching junior national teams in Vienna.

In addition to Berger, Denis Lungu-Bocean, who leads the DLB Goalkeeper Academy, will play a key role in the campus. Lungu-Bocean was present at the final tournament of EURO U-19 in 2022, highlighting his commitment to nurturing young talent. The DLB Goalkeeper Academy operates in partnership with HPB Torwart Akademie from Salzburg, further enriching the training experience.

Other notable figures in the goalkeeper training scene include Alin Goia, the newly appointed coach at Augsburg II, and Fila Karoly, a former junior international now with CAO - Club Atletic Oradea. Additionally, Sergiu Nuță and Nicușor Zărnescu are preparing goalkeepers at Centrul de Excelență Bavaria and Austria Salzburg, respectively.

With Nuno Claro at the helm, this initiative promises to elevate the standards of goalkeeper training in Romania, fostering a new generation of skilled players ready to make their mark in the sport.
