Over 12,900 Companies Achieve Nearly 300 Billion Euros in Revenue
A remarkable 12,943 companies in Romania have collectively reached nearly 300 billion euros in revenue, highlighting the vibrant growth within the nation's business landscape. These companies recorded an impressive operating profit of 26.5 billion euros, marking a significant achievement in the Romanian economy.
Presented by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), the findings from the 2026 National Companies Ranking showcase a 4.34% increase in revenue compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the operating profit grew by 2.39%, demonstrating positive momentum across various sectors.
The commerce sector stands out, accounting for the largest share of revenue at 43.54%. However, the industrial sector emerges as the most profitable, contributing 36.12% of the total profit from these companies. The industry's profit margin is notably high at 9.6%, underscoring its significance in the ranking.
The 2026 National Companies Ranking is the most important classification of high-performing companies in Romania. It is based on a comprehensive analysis of 945,739 financial statements, reflecting a solid foundation for this evaluation. Among these, 366,550 financial statements competed for the top 10 positions, showcasing the competitiveness of Romania's business environment.
The ranking highlights the dominance of industry and services in the number of companies, with industries making up 34.39% and services at 28.77%. The cumulative turnover of the top 12,943 companies reached 299.47 billion euros, with the operating profit representing 8.86% of the total revenue.
CCIR has been conducting the National Companies Ranking since 1994, with Mihai Daraban at the helm. This year’s analysis emphasizes the importance of five economic indicators: net turnover, operating profit, operating profit rate, efficiency in human resource utilization, and efficiency in the use of employed capital. The results reflect a thriving business ecosystem that continues to evolve and strengthen.
