Over 2,000 Cyclists Celebrate at L'Étape România by Tour de France

The recent L'Étape România by Tour de France attracted over 2,000 cyclists from 22 countries, reaffirming its position among the top five cycling events in the international circuit. This impressive gathering showcased both amateur and professional athletes eager to take on the challenge.

Participants had the option of three distinct races: The Ride, a 37-kilometer course with approximately 1,200 entrants; The Race, covering 75 kilometers and drawing more than 450 competitors; and the City Adventure, a 14-kilometer route with over 550 cyclists. Notably, 80 individuals with disabilities participated for free, emphasizing the event's inclusivity.

The event was meticulously organized by MTB Academy, with significant logistical support from 300 technicians and 300 volunteers, alongside over 400 law enforcement personnel ensuring safety throughout the competition. Tricky conditions arose with necessary adjustments to race routes due to ongoing construction on Bulevardul Basarabia, but the spirit of the event remained undeterred.

Kostadin Kostadinov and Kateryna Kalashlinska claimed the coveted yellow jerseys for the 75-kilometer race, while Nikolay Yovchev Kolev and Cristina Maria Sprînceană took top honors in the 37-kilometer category. Furthermore, the top three amateur finishers in the premier event secured their spots in the prestigious L'Étape du Tour in France.

The success of L'Étape România was supported by partnerships with Decathlon, the Bucharest Municipality, the Romanian Cycling Federation, and the French Embassy, all contributing to a vibrant celebration of cycling in Romania.
