Over 5,300 Beekeepers Benefit from Significant Financial Support in 2026

In a remarkable boost for the apiculture sector, 5,369 eligible beneficiaries received a total of 51,814,035.21 lei in financial support from the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) on October 12, 2026. This support is co-financed equally by European and national funds, highlighting a strong commitment to enhancing agricultural sustainability in Romania.

The financial assistance for 2026 is part of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (PAC) for the years 2023-2027. Of the total funds, 25,906,992.43 lei came from the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), while the remaining 25,907,042.78 lei originated from the State Budget. This investment reflects a coordinated effort to strengthen the agricultural framework and support local producers.

A total of 5,391 payment applications were submitted by beekeepers, with 5,369 of these authorized for payment. This notable achievement indicates a significant engagement from the apicultural community, which is crucial for both local economies and biodiversity.

The interventions supported by these funds include a variety of essential resources for beekeepers. These range from veterinary medicinal products to new hives, pollen collectors, and drying equipment. Furthermore, beekeepers have also accessed funding for protective gear, tools, trailers, and even queen bees, ensuring they have the necessary equipment to thrive.

In addition to these resources, funding is also available for physical-chemical analysis and residue testing, promoting higher standards in honey production. The commitment to support apicultural practices and provide necessary tools reflects a positive step toward sustainable agriculture in Romania.
