Radio România Cultural joins the 'Terra Memoriae' project to enrich local communities

Radio România Cultural is taking on a vital role in the 'Terra Memoriae' project, acting as curator and co-producer. This ambitious initiative, launched by Tășuleasa Social and UmanEast for Education and Culture, aims to bring humanistic research directly to the communities along the Via Transilvanica until 2028.

The project will unite artists, researchers, and local communities, focusing on documenting the people, traditions, stories, and heritage elements that shape the identity of the Via Transilvanica trail. Throughout its duration, there will be nine cultural residencies held in the eight regions traversed by the trail, with participants from various fields such as literature, gastronomy, anthropology, architecture, theater, history, photography, and biology.

As part of its contribution, Radio România Cultural will document the on-the-ground experiences and transform them into engaging content for a wider audience. They have also selected the participants for the cultural residencies, ensuring a rich diversity of voices and perspectives.

Jurnalista Daria Ghiu will closely follow the project from within the communities involved, capturing the essence of the initiative. Radu Croitoru, the manager of Radio România Cultural, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating it is the most impactful and lasting partnership the station has had in recent years.

The culmination of the 'Terra Memoriae' project will occur on November 1, 2028, with a grand performance at Sala Radio, marking the centenary of Radio România. This celebration will include the release of a 90-minute documentary film, as well as an event dedicated to culture and memory.

An exciting addition to the Via Transilvanica trail is the new Terra Borza Teutonica region, extending the trail by approximately 170 kilometers, with Brașov now serving as the third entry point. To further support this project, a digital platform will be established to showcase the research outcomes and artistic creations from the residencies, ensuring that the legacy of 'Terra Memoriae' continues to resonate with future generations.
