Romania and Ukraine Forge Drone Production Partnership Worth 200 Million Euros

A promising collaboration between Romania and Ukraine has emerged, focusing on a joint drone production project valued at 200 million euros. This initiative was discussed during a bilateral meeting between Romania's President Nicușor Dan and Ukraine's President Volodimir Zelenski in the Ivano-Frankivsk region last Friday.

The meeting was part of the inaugural Summit of the Carpathian Integration Initiative, which aims to enhance regional cooperation among Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czechia, Austria, and Serbia. The initiative seeks to address crucial areas such as security, energy, infrastructure, logistics, and economic exchanges.

During their discussions, both leaders emphasized the importance of transforming available funds into equipment as swiftly as possible. Zelenski highlighted that various projects to accelerate cooperation between the two countries were analyzed, including those related to drone production, infrastructure, humanitarian issues, and security in the Black Sea region.

Another significant topic was the transit of Ukrainian cereals, with Dan and Zelenski exploring ways to improve transportation efficiency via rail and the Danube. Dan noted that this transit not only aids in logistical challenges but also provides substantial economic benefits to Romanian companies.

The summit concluded with a Carpathian Economic Forum, further emphasizing the initiative's objective to unlock the region's economic potential and enhance its attractiveness for investment. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in fostering deeper ties between Romania and Ukraine, paving the way for mutual growth and security in the region.
