Nicușor Dan recently highlighted Romania's transformation into one of Europe's most dynamic destinations for investment and development during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly. This address, part of the discussions at the 81st session of the Assembly, took place on Wednesday.

In his speech, Dan emphasized that Romania is open to business and innovation, showcasing the country's remarkable economic evolution over the past three and a half decades of democracy. He acknowledged that millions of Romanians understand the stark differences between a communist system and a democratic society, which has shaped the nation's current identity.

Dan pointed out that Romania has aligned itself with OECD standards, attracting top global companies that have established production, engineering, technology, and service centers within its borders. He underscored the strategic advantage of Romania: its people. Scientists, engineers, doctors, and technology specialists are at the forefront of shaping the industries of the future, which include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, and robotics.

Furthermore, he noted that Romania plays a crucial role in strengthening Europe’s resilience by developing significant reserves of natural gas, critical minerals, and other strategic resources. The exploitation of 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Black Sea is set to commence next year, marking a significant step forward for the nation.

Geographically, Romania is positioned at the crossroads of the Danube, the Black Sea, and major trade corridors, serving as a strategic hub for commerce, energy, and transport. Dan believes that economic development is more robust when based on partnerships, asserting that Romania is a credible and reliable partner on the global stage.
