Romania ranks ninth in beer production within the EU in 2025
In 2025, Romania made a significant mark on the European beer landscape by ranking ninth in production. The country produced 1.594 billion liters of beer that year, contributing to the overall 34.4 billion liters produced across the European Union.
Germany led the way in beer production, with an impressive 7.4 billion liters, accounting for 21.6% of the EU's total output. Following Germany, Spain and Poland took second and third places, producing 5.3 billion and 3.5 billion liters, respectively.
Within Romania's total production, the majority, 1.491 billion liters, contained over 0.5% alcohol. In contrast, beer with low alcohol content and non-alcoholic varieties made up 103.954 million liters of the country's total production.
These figures, recently published by Eurostat, highlight the diverse beer offerings across Europe, with a significant portion of the 32.3 billion liters produced in the EU containing over 0.5% alcohol. The data reflects not just the scale of production but also the evolving preferences of consumers across the region.
