Romania to be Special Guest at 2027 Paris Book Festival
Romania will proudly participate as a special guest at the 2027 edition of the Festival du Livre de Paris. This prestigious event, recognized as one of the foremost international literary gatherings, will take place from April 16 to 18, 2027.
The Romanian government approved a memorandum on Friday, ensuring the country's presence will promote Romanian literature and showcase a new generation of writers. This initiative aims to enhance cultural relations between Romania and France while increasing the number of literary translations into French.
Organizers have expressed their readiness to support Romania’s participation by providing a central exhibition space and increased visibility in official promotional materials. The estimated budget for this endeavor is 408,022 euros, which will cover the organization of a national stand and a program of literary, artistic, musical, and theatrical events.
The main expenses include the rental of a 100 square meter pavilion, costing 250,000 euros, along with additional costs for stand setup, promotional materials, and event spaces. The Romanian Cultural Institute will coordinate the national stand and program, funded by the state budget.
This participation marks a significant milestone as it coincides with the 20th anniversary of Romania's accession to the European Union. Romania has a history of high-profile participation in international book fairs, having been honored as the Guest of Honor at the Cairo International Book Fair in 2026 and set to participate in the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2028.
