Romania to Field Two Teams at International Padbol Cup in Stockholm

Romania is set to participate with two teams at the International Padbol Cup in Stockholm, scheduled for October 2-3, 2026. This exciting event follows the remarkable performance of Romanian teams at the International Cup in Sardinia, where they secured both the champion and vice-champion titles.

The Romanian teams consist of athletes Floris Stănculea and Adrian Cătrună, alongside Aurelian Surd and Ovidiu Vasian. These four sportsmen aim to continue the trend of success that Romania has established in international competitions.

While the two teams represent a strong presence, Romania will not be able to count on the duo of Olivian Surugiu and Victoraș Popescu due to recent challenges. Surugiu has recently undergone surgery for a meniscus injury, and Cătrună is facing a serious knee issue that requires surgical intervention.

Elisabeta Gherghișan, the president of the Romanian Padbol Federation, will coordinate Romania's participation in Stockholm. This initiative is part of the Federation's broader program aimed at preparing and participating in international competitions, and it has the support of the National Agency for Sport.
