Romania triumphs over France at the European Championship

In a thrilling comeback, Romania defeated France, the Olympic champion of 2021 and 2024, in a match that showcased the resilience and skill of the national men's volleyball team. After trailing 2-0, Romania fought back to win the fourth set 35-33, forcing a decisive fifth set in front of an enthusiastic crowd of over 5,000 at BTarena.

The match was particularly special for the many children present, who witnessed high-level volleyball and the determination of their national team. Coach Sergiu Stancu, who idolized Andrea Giani, has led the team to consistent performances on the European stage, and this victory against France marks another significant achievement.

Romania had faced an unexpected setback in their opening match against Latvia but rebounded admirably with a strong showing against Germany. The team's journey in the championship now sees them heading to Sofia for a match against Ukraine, entering the knockout stage with renewed confidence.

David Runcan's inclusion in the starting lineup during the third set proved crucial as the team turned the tide against France.
