Romanian-German trade shows steady growth in early 2026

In the first half of 2026, trade relations between Romania and Germany demonstrated a positive trend compared to the same period last year. The total volume of goods traded reached an impressive 21.4 billion EUR, marking a growth of 1.3%.

Germany's exports to Romania amounted to 11.9 billion EUR during this period, reflecting a significant increase of 4.6% compared to the first half of 2025. This growth underlines Romania's importance as a key partner in the European economy.

On the other hand, Germany imported goods from Romania worth 9.5 billion EUR, although this figure represents a decrease of 2.5% from the previous year. Despite this dip, Romania maintains its position as the 17th largest exporter of German goods and ranks 19th in German imports.

Sebastian Metz, the General Director of AHK Romania, emphasized the importance of Romania in Germany's commercial landscape. He noted that Romania remains one of Germany's most significant trading partners and highlighted the necessity of continuing reforms to sustain the positive momentum of bilateral trade.

Metz expressed optimism for the future, anticipating a slight increase in bilateral trade for the year ahead. This outlook reflects the ongoing commitment to strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
