Romanian rowers achieve historic gold and set new world record

Adriana Adam and Simona Radiş have made history by winning gold at the World Rowing Championships with a remarkable time of 6 minutes, 49 seconds, and 86 hundredths. This victory not only marks their first world title in this category but also establishes a new world record, surpassing the previous record held by British rowers Helen Glover and Heather Stanning since 2014.

The competition was fierce, with France finishing in second place at 6:56.21, followed closely by the United States at 6:59.76. Simona Radiş expressed her joy, stating, 'We are happy and grateful. This is the first world gold in this format, but it certainly won't be the last.'

The record-breaking performance was achieved on the Bosbaan lake, showcasing the strength and skill of the Romanian team. This victory adds to Simona Radiş's impressive collection, marking her sixth gold medal at the World Championships.

In other events, Ştefan Constantin Berariu and Florin Sorin Lehaci finished fourth in their final with a time of 6:24.35, while competitors from New Zealand, Australia, and Italy finished ahead of them with times of 6:16.62, 6:18.50, and 6:19.68, respectively.

Mihai Chiruţă advanced to the semifinals in the men's single scull event, finishing third in his quarterfinal with a time of 6:50.44. He was narrowly edged out by an American and a French competitor, who completed their races in 6:42.36 and 6:46.08, respectively. Meanwhile, Bianca Ifteni finished fifth in her quarterfinal with a time of 7:38.23 and will compete in Final C. Lastly, Andrei Cornea and Marian Enache concluded their race in sixth place in Final B with a time of 6:21.94.
