Romania's Bakery Exports Surpass Half a Billion Euro Milestone

In a remarkable achievement for the country, Romania's exports of bread, biscuits, and croissants have surpassed the half a billion euro mark for the first time, reaching a total of 549 million euros last year.

This impressive growth reflects a significant increase from just 154 million euros in 2016, showcasing a rise of over three times in value within a decade. The volume of bread exports alone has also doubled during this period, underscoring the expanding international demand for Romanian bakery products.

The National Institute of Statistics (INS) categorizes these exports under grain, flour, milk products, and pastry items, highlighting Romania's strong presence in these sectors. Despite being a large exporter of raw materials, particularly cereals, the growth in bakery exports indicates a diversification of Romania's export portfolio, paving the way for future opportunities in the food industry.
