Romania's First Bachelor's Program in Early Education Set to Launch

Universitatea „Ștefan cel Mare” din Suceava (USV) is set to introduce the country's first bachelor's program in Early Education, starting in the academic year 2026–2027. This pioneering program addresses the growing need for professionalization in the field of early childhood education, aligning Romania's educational system with European standards.

Organized by the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, the program will offer 90 places for students during the admission session from September 3 to 9. It aims to equip future educators with essential competencies in child development, educational activity design, and collaboration with families and communities.

Students will learn to create learning environments tailored to preschool and pre-preschool age children. The curriculum combines theoretical training with practical activities conducted in early education institutions, leveraging the Faculty's extensive experience in teacher training.

Graduates of the program will be qualified to teach in both public and private nurseries and kindergartens, coordinating educational programs for children aged 0 to 6 or 7 years. University representatives believe that investing in early education specialists is crucial for the harmonious development of children.

Investment in early childhood education is recognized as one of the most effective ways to reduce inequalities. Access to quality education and care services not only supports children's development but also leads to better long-term academic and social outcomes.

According to UNICEF, early education encompasses the period from birth to age 8, a critical phase for cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. The experiences children have in these formative years lay the groundwork for their future learning, health, and behavior, making this new program a vital step forward for Romania's educational landscape.
