Sighișoara hosts 25th anniversary of ProEtnica festival celebrating multiculturalism

The vibrant city of Sighișoara is set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ProEtnica festival, which emphasizes peace and intercultural dialogue. This year’s motto, '25 de ani pentru pace interetnică și dialog intercultural,' reflects the festival's commitment to fostering understanding among diverse communities.

As the festival kicks off for the XXII-a oară, the Piața Cetății will transform into a lively cultural stage filled with dances, traditional costumes, music, and various forms of artistic expression. Angela Ganninger, the German ambassador to Romania, has expressed her heartfelt connection to the German minority, noting the significant roles of the Transylvanian Saxons and the Banat Swabians in Romania's cultural landscape.

Ganninger also praised the festival's organizers for their efforts in showcasing the contributions of minority communities, which she believes are vital for stability in a pluralistic society. Cristian Roșu echoed this sentiment, stating that diversity is an essential resource for society.

The ProEtnica festival not only celebrates cultural heritage but also includes a rich program of artistic events and discussion forums. Volker Reiter highlighted the indispensable role of national minority organizations in ensuring the festival's continuation, demonstrating the strength of community collaboration.
