Starting October 15, 2026, companies in Romania will have the chance to apply for funding through a new initiative aimed at stimulating investments in the manufacturing industry. This program, established by Government Decision No. 486/2026, is set to provide 759 million lei, approximately 159 million euros, to support strategic economic development in the country.

Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, emphasized that this funding opportunity represents an important step in bolstering a key sector for Romania. The program is designed for both established companies and newly created enterprises, enabling them to invest in new constructions, technological equipment, and intangible assets, with the principal condition being a minimum initial investment of 10 million euros, or around 50 million lei.

Applications for funding will be accepted for a period of 30 working days, from October 15 until November 25, 2026, at 5:00 PM. Companies will need to submit their requests exclusively online, and late submissions will not be considered.

The overall budget for this investment stimulus program amounts to 5.313 billion lei, or roughly 1.05 billion euros, with financing agreements available from 2026 to 2032. The state aid payments will continue until 2036, giving companies the flexibility to choose between a direct grant or a tax credit based on their project financing needs.

Nazare further noted that Romania requires increased production capacity and investments with high added value to gradually reduce dependence on imports. This funding initiative aims to facilitate that growth, encouraging businesses to invest in the future of manufacturing in Romania.
