TAROM welcomes its first Boeing 737 MAX, named after a football legend

TAROM has proudly taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX, which will be named "Mircea Lucescu" in honor of the renowned Romanian football coach. This significant addition to the fleet marks a new chapter for the airline, as it looks to modernize and enhance its operations.

The journey of the Boeing 737 MAX begins in Seattle, where TAROM's dedicated crews will bring the aircraft home. The ferry flight will take place in two stages, with a planned stopover in Keflavík, Iceland, ensuring a safe and smooth transition.

Leading the charge is Cristian Anghel, the Director General of TAROM, backed by an experienced team that includes Cătălin Prunariu, the Director of Flight Operations. Prunariu brings over three decades of aviation experience, having previously served as a sports pilot and a member of the esteemed "Hawks of Romania" formation.

The operational expertise doesn't end there. Alexandru Scărlătescu and Alexandru Dobre, both with 17 and 18 years of service at TAROM respectively, contribute their remarkable flying hours—approximately 14,000 each—making them invaluable assets to the team. In addition, Viviana Negru, an instructor with a decade of experience, and Daniela Cristescu, another seasoned instructor with 21 years at TAROM, ensure that the crew is well-prepared for this new aircraft.

TAROM's commitment to excellence is further highlighted by the long service of its cabin crew. Rodica Hidioşeanu, with 31 years at TAROM, and Oana Buleac, whose family legacy includes a former instructor, are just a few of the dedicated professionals ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers.

Technical expertise is also a cornerstone of this new venture. Costinel Bucur, who joined TAROM in 2019, has completed training for the Boeing 737 MAX and plays a key role in the Maintenance Department. Alongside him, Lilian Carac, an essential member of the technical team since 2018, coordinates the components office, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.

As TAROM embarks on this exciting journey with its new Boeing 737 MAX, the airline continues to showcase its commitment to innovation, safety, and exceptional service. This aircraft will not only enhance the travel experience for passengers but also symbolize the dedication and hard work of all those involved in its arrival.
