TechUp România set to transform funding for innovation
The launch of TechUp România marks a significant step forward in supporting innovation across key industries in the country. With an approved budget of nearly one billion euros, this program aims to provide funding in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, microelectronics, biotechnology, energy, climate technologies, advanced materials, and cybersecurity.
Minister Alexandru Nazare emphasizes that TechUp România will change the logic of financing, addressing the common challenge where many technologies stall between the lab and the market. For the first time, research, development, prototype validation, and investment in production capacity will be streamlined into a single funding pathway.
This new approach allows companies to submit just one application, simplifying the process significantly. Additionally, for research and development efforts, companies can receive an advance of up to 30%, encouraging more entities to engage in innovative projects.
Romania boasts a wealth of talented researchers, engineers, and trainers, and TechUp aims to harness this potential. The Ministry of Finance is expected to approve both the applicant guide and the payment guide soon, paving the way for a more robust innovation landscape in Romania.
