Timișoara set to welcome a new 32,000-seat stadium

Timișoara is on the verge of a significant transformation with plans for a new stadium that will seat 32,000 spectators. This ambitious project, named after the legendary Dan Păltinișanu, aims to become the second-largest stadium in Romania, following the Arena Națională.

The new arena, which will cost approximately 115 million euros, is set to commence construction in the spring. The first geotechnical studies will be conducted by the end of this month, paving the way for project designers to begin their work.

Covering an impressive area of 85,000 square meters and reaching a height of 36 meters, the stadium will feature two tiers of seating, all fully covered. Unlike traditional venues, this stadium will not include a running track, instead creating a more intimate environment with minimal distance between the stands and the pitch.

In addition to its main sporting functions, the stadium will offer 15,000 square meters of heated spaces, which will house conference rooms, areas for other sports, and commercial spaces. A decision on the allocation of these areas is expected in the coming days.

Energy efficiency is a priority for the new stadium, which will boast independence through the implementation of photovoltaic panels and energy storage solutions. The venue will also integrate a hybrid grass pitch and LED lighting for nighttime events.

In addition to the new facility, Timișoara will also have a temporary stadium with a capacity of 10,000 seats available for use in the interim. This strategic approach ensures that local sports and events continue to thrive during the transition period as the city prepares for a bright new chapter in its sporting history.
