WDP invests 153 million euros in new projects across Romania
WDP is currently developing nine new projects in Romania, with a total area nearing 190,000 square meters. This significant investment, amounting to around 153 million euros, showcases WDP's commitment to expanding its footprint in the Romanian market.
As of June, the projects under development have an impressive pre-leasing rate of 83%. WDP holds a 24% market share in Romania, reflecting its strong position in the logistics and warehousing sector. The total area under development for WDP globally stands at 409,000 square meters, with a budget of 383 million euros.
Among the most notable projects is a large facility of approximately 54,000 square meters for the Dutch retailer Action, with an investment of about 40 million euros. This project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, coinciding with Action's first store opening in Romania in the fall of 2025.
WDP is also developing a project for Aquila, covering over 47,200 square meters, with a budget of around 44 million euros, set for delivery in the first quarter of 2027. Additional projects include a 32,000 square meter facility for FAN Courier Group, a 15,000 square meter site for Siemens in Sibiu, and various projects for Auchan and Dr. Max throughout the country.
The portfolio of WDP in Romania is valued at over 1.6 billion euros, with ongoing developments also including smaller projects for HAVI and Aggreko. Notably, three of WDP's investments were launched in the first half of the year, totaling approximately 40,000 square meters.
WDP has significantly bolstered its land bank in Romania, acquiring over 313,000 square meters near Bucharest, which constitutes 38% of its new land bank area. The recent acquisitions include 220,700 square meters in Ștefănești and nearly 92,900 square meters in Dragomirești, representing about 11% of WDP's investment value.
Financially, WDP has reported earnings of 186.7 million euros for the first half of the year, a jump from 171.2 million euros in the same period last year. The company's net profit has also seen an increase, reaching 186.6 million euros, up from 139.2 million euros previously. WDP is poised for further growth, with a remaining investment pipeline of 588 million euros and an estimated return of 6.8% on its investments.
