The civil ceremony was officiated by Mayor Vlad Oprea, who took to Facebook to share his excitement about the occasion. This union comes after Ana-Maria's previous marriage to Pavel Popescu, a former water polo player.
Ana-Maria Brânză is renowned not just for her personal milestones but also for her extraordinary achievements in sports. She is widely regarded as the most decorated female fencer in Romania, boasting three Olympic medals, six World Championship medals, and an impressive eleven European Championship medals, including nine golds.
Her remarkable career, which she concluded in 2021, also includes 37 trophies from the World Cup circuit. Ana-Maria has been recognized as the best female fencer in the world on five occasions, a testament to her dedication and skill in the sport, with titles spanning the seasons of 2007-2008 to 2020-2021.
