ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BN98 arrives in Romania with cutting-edge WiFi 8 technology
The ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BN98 has officially landed in Romania, bringing with it the promise of advanced connectivity through WiFi 8 technology. This new router is designed with four bands, which include a 2.4 GHz band, two 5 GHz bands, and a 6 GHz band, allowing for a theoretical speed of approximately 25,000 Mbps, representing the aggregate capacity across all bands.
Although the WiFi 8 standard is still in draft form and not yet finalized, the GT-BN98 offers features that enhance network performance. Notably, it includes two 10 Gbps ports, four 2.5 Gbps ports, and one Gigabit port. One of the 10 Gbps ports can be used to connect directly to the internet, while the other connects local network devices.
The router comes equipped with advanced features such as Adaptive QoE, which dynamically allocates bandwidth based on application needs and network load, as well as WiFi Insight, a tool that tracks interference from other WiFi networks and radio sources with a 24-hour history available through the web interface.
While the GT-BN98 supports the draft version of the 802.11bn standard, it is important to note that full utilization of WiFi 8 capabilities will require compatible devices. The IEEE's timeline suggests that the final approval of WiFi 8 will not occur until 2028.
Additionally, the GT-BN98 includes AiProtection, which filters out malicious websites, blocks infected devices, and eliminates unwanted ads and trackers, ensuring a safer online experience. ASUS has announced that the router will be available through local partners, and it is already listed at eMAG.
