In July 2026, the average gross salary in Romania has reached an impressive 9,709 lei, reflecting a steady increase of 1.5% compared to the previous month. This growth is mirrored by a similar rise in the average net salary, which also saw an increase of 1.5%.

The advancements in salary figures can largely be attributed to the provision of occasional bonuses, benefits in kind, and financial aid. Notably, the most significant increases in average net salary occurred in legal and accounting activities, which surged by 23.4%. The oil and gas extraction sector also performed well, with a remarkable increase of 20.2%.

In various fields such as architecture and engineering, salary increases ranged between 8% and 14.5%. The textile manufacturing sector experienced modest growth as well, with net salaries rising between 3.5% and 6.5%. However, not all sectors shared in this prosperity; the tobacco manufacturing industry saw a decline in net salaries, dropping between 7.5% and 11.5%.

The financial intermediation sector faced challenges too, with declines of 1.5% to 4.5%, excluding insurance activities. On a more positive note, the healthcare and social assistance sector enjoyed a 1.5% increase in average net salaries, while public administration experienced a slight rise of 0.6%. Meanwhile, the education sector reported a decrease of 1.1% in average net salary.
