Direct flights between Bucharest and Beijing are officially back

Romanians can once again travel directly to China, starting today, September 4th. Air China has resumed its direct flights with a new service that operates three times a week, providing a significant boost to connectivity between Romania and China.

The new route, which operates on the Beijing (PEK) - Bucharest (OTP) - Zagreb (ZAG) round-trip, eliminates the need for layovers, reducing the total travel time. This direct connection facilitates business travel, making journeys faster and more predictable for professionals.

The resumption of these direct flights marks an important milestone for Romania-China relations. Dan-Horia Maxim, Romania's ambassador to the People's Republic of China, highlighted that it represents a major diplomatic and economic success aimed at bringing our communities closer together.

The new air corridor is expected to generate new opportunities for dialogue and cooperation, as Romania actively seeks to strengthen its economic and commercial ties with China. Enhanced air connectivity supports not only business relationships but also commercial exchanges between companies and institutions from both countries.

The ceremony dedicating the resumption of flights took place on August 11th at the Romanian Embassy in China, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Croatia and Air China. The event gathered representatives from Chinese authorities, the aviation sector, the business community, and the tourism industry, showcasing the significance of this renewed connection.

The direct air link between Romania and China has a history spanning over half a century, dating back to 1974 when TAROM inaugurated the Bucharest-Beijing route. This legacy continues to evolve, bringing new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
