Sergio Diaconescu represents Romania in European Volleyball Championship

Sergio Diaconescu is set to showcase his skills as part of Romania's national volleyball team in the upcoming European Championship. The tournament kicks off on September 9, 2026, in Cluj-Napoca, where fans will have the chance to cheer on the tricolors in Group D.

The opening match for Romania will be against Latvia on September 9 at 20:00. This highly anticipated game will be broadcasted on TVR Sport, allowing supporters to follow their team closely.

Romania's journey continues as they face Switzerland on Friday, Germany on Saturday, and Turkey on Monday. A thrilling match against the Olympic champions, France, is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16.

The championship will see other groups competing in Italy, Bulgaria, and Finland, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage.

At 30 years old, Diaconescu has come a long way since starting his volleyball career in Oțelu Roșu. Currently playing as a libero for Dinamo Bucharest, he previously played for SCMU Craiova, showcasing his dedication and talent on the court.
