Meriton Korenica, a 29-year-old midfielder, has made a significant move to FCSB, transferring from CFR Cluj for a fee of 600,000 euros. Recognized as one of the standout players at CFR Cluj, Korenica leaves behind a legacy of 27 goals and 11 assists in 110 appearances across all competitions.

Korenica, who arrived in Romania two years ago from Manisa, a second division team in Turkey, was in the last year of his contract with CFR Cluj. To avoid losing him for free, the club made the strategic decision to sell him. Gigi Becali, the owner of FCSB, made the transfer decision, indicating the club’s confidence in Korenica's abilities.

Cristi Balaj, the former president of CFR Cluj, played a pivotal role in bringing Korenica to Romania and has spoken highly of him. He described Korenica as a very good midfielder who has demonstrated his value on the pitch and as a person of exceptional character.

Throughout the current season, Korenica has already scored three goals, including notable performances in European cups where he netted two goals against Alashkert and Tromso. He also contributed to a cup victory against Sepsi, where CFR Cluj won 3-1.

As he prepares to sign his contract in Bucharest, Korenica steps into his new role at FCSB under coach Marius Baciu, bringing with him the experience and dedication that made him a mainstay in Marius Şumudică's squad at CFR Cluj, where he played every minute in league matches since the coach's return.
