Sergiu Manea envisions a transformative future for Romania through education and technology
At the recent IQ Digital Summit in Bucharest, Sergiu Manea, the general director of Banca Comercială Română (BCR), highlighted the significant opportunities Romania faces amidst ongoing technological, political, and social transformations. He emphasized that the country stands to gain immensely from a reset in its approach to development, particularly in education and health.
Manea pointed out that technology is already present and has the potential to create scalable products, which is crucial for Romania's economic growth. He discussed the importance of adopting new technologies and securing access to capital, which are essential for addressing the challenges posed by geopolitical and geoeconomic factors.
The summit, held on October 15, brought together business representatives and technology experts to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on the economy, society, labor markets, and business models. Manea presented a scenario model that includes parameters such as European cohesion, regional security, energy capacity, education, health, artificial intelligence, productivity, and capital.
He also stressed the need for Romania to enhance its production capacity and strategic autonomy. The return of talented young individuals to Romania is seen as a positive indicator of the country's ability to leverage these opportunities. Manea believes that these extraordinary young people view Romania as a place where they can grow and develop, which is a promising sign for the future.
